Scarlett Johansson has closed the chapter on her Marvel superhero era and is now preparing to return to the comic-book realm in a villainous capacity.
Scarlett Johansson, best known for portraying Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, may be poised to make her first foray into the DC universe. Deadline reports the actress is in late-stage negotiations to appear in “The Batman. Part II,” with Robert Pattinson set to reprise Bruce Wayne.
According to The InSneider, Emma Stone was initially approached for the role but declined. Afterward, Johansson reportedly asked her agency to pursue the part on her behalf. Sources suggest her character will be an antagonist, though specifics have not been disclosed.
Previously, Johansson stated she had definitively ended her involvement with the Marvel franchise following the standalone “Black Widow,” noting that her character’s arc had concluded. It seems she is now turning her focus to a different superhero universe.
Production on “The Batman. Part II” is slated to begin in spring 2026, with the film scheduled to premiere on October 1, 2027.
