Sarah J. Maas Announces A Court of Thorns and Roses Books 6 and 7

Sarah J. Maas is returning to her A Court of Thorns and Roses series after more than five years. Since releasing A Court of Silver Flames in 2021, Maas focused on her Crescent City series. She has now confirmed that the wait for her next ACOTAR novel is coming to an end.

Maas announced on Monday that the next installment for romantasy readers will be A Court of Splintered Harmony, scheduled for release on Oct. 27, 2026. The subsequent book, A Court of Forgotten Melody, will follow quickly on Jan. 12, 2027.

The releases begin The Valkyrie Cycle, a fresh story arc set within the larger series. Maas revealed the titles and cover art in back-to-back Instagram posts, while digital billboards promoting the books went live in Los Angeles, Denver, and New York City.

Maas previously detailed the structure of the upcoming arc during a March appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Instead of a traditional trilogy format, Maas mapped the narrative as a continuous story divided into distinct movements. A Court of Splintered Harmony covers the first movement, A Court of Forgotten Melody contains the second and third movements, and a third untitled book will wrap up the final movement.

Maas teased A Court of Splintered Harmony with the phrase, “What was broken will be remade,” while A Court of Forgotten Melody carries the tagline, “What was lost will be reclaimed.”

Official publisher overviews establish Koschei the Deathless as the primary threat across both novels. In A Court of Splintered Harmony, Koschei extends his influence through the Fae territories while Prythian struggles to recover from the Hybern War and growing divisions within the Night Court weaken any unified resistance.

Maas has not shared which characters will serve as the primary perspectives for the new story arc. Both novels are currently available for preorder through major retail outlets.
