Saints Row creator confirms he was asked to consider a prequel
After the unsuccessful 2023 reboot, hopes for the series’ return in its familiar form all but vanished. Volition’s most recent release failed to meet players’ expectations — and that was only one of its shortcomings.
Fans now have a reason for cautious optimism. Chris Stockman, the writer behind the original Saints Row, revealed he was invited to pitch a concept for a prequel to the series. He put it plainly: “I was asked to come up with an idea for a Saints Row prequel!”
That suggests the franchise still has a chance at revival, though a full comeback is far from guaranteed. Even after Stockman submits his concept it will need approval, and a skilled team must be assembled to bring the vision to life. The essential requirement is that it feels like authentic Saints Row — not a half-hearted imitation.
Chris’s full message read:
“Folks — I’ve got great news! I was asked to come up with an idea for a Saints Row reboot! I can’t say more right now, but my hopes for this game have grown beyond mere dreams! Update: It’s not a VR title. I’m genuinely returning to the series’ roots!”
