Dark Metroidvania Well Dweller Delayed for Android

A fresh metroidvania with 97% positive reviews has arrived on smartphones thanks to enthusiasts.

An enthusiast operating under the nickname vocies61 released an unofficial Android port of Well Dweller, a dark fairy-tale metroidvania by Kyle Thompson, who is known for Islets and Crypt Custodian.

Players control a tiny bird named Glimmer whose family has been captured by a cruel queen. The ruler loves outfits made from bird feathers, so the hero must reach her castle and rescue his kin. The main weapon in this journey is a burning match, which can be used to fight off monsters, illuminate dark corners, and serve as a platform.

As Glimmer explores the kingdom, he learns to climb, glide, and fly, unlocking new routes and hidden stashes. Trinkets found along the way enhance his abilities, and meetings with other inhabitants help reveal what happened to this world.

The original game was released on Steam quite recently on September 22, 2026, but has already earned 97% positive reviews based on more than 4,000 user reviews.
