Ryan Gosling Developing Live-Action Flintstones Movie Focused on Bamm-Bamm

Ryan Gosling continues to expand his packed schedule. After starring in the sci-fi feature Project Hail Mary earlier this year, the actor is set to appear in Star Wars: Starfighter in 2027. In 2028, Gosling will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Ghost Rider, reuniting with Starfighter director Shawn Levy. He has also added an unexpected live-action take on The Flintstones to his development slate.

Gosling’s production banner, Open Invite, is developing the project alongside Warner Bros., according to Deadline. The feature will center on an adult version of Bamm-Bamm. Gosling and his Open Invite partner Jessie Henderson are currently searching for a screenwriter to pen the script. Later this year, Open Invite will premiere the romantic drama Love of Your Life at the Toronto International Film Festival. That film stars Margaret Qualley (The Dog Stars), Aaron Pierre (Lanterns), and Patrick Schwarzenegger (The White Lotus).

Who is Bamm-Bamm in the Flintstones universe?

Bamm-Bamm first appeared as a super-strong baby in the original 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated series as the son of Barney and Betty Rubble. In the 1970s animated series The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, he was depicted as a teenager who formed a music band with Pebbles. The character also featured in the 1994 live-action The Flintstones movie.

Because the project remains in early development, Warner Bros. has not announced any plot details or casting choices. It is unclear whether Gosling will star as Bamm-Bamm or work exclusively as a producer. Following his acclaimed performance as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, the actor might fit the character well, though his upcoming production commitments could limit his on-screen involvement. A potential Barbie sequel could also take precedence, as the film remains the highest-grossing theatrical release in the history of Warner Bros.
