Ryan Coogler has confirmed that his next directing project will be the third Black Panther film — a superhero action set in the secret nation of Wakanda. He made the revelation during a panel at Contenders Film: Los Angeles. Production has only just begun, and industry sources expect principal photography to kick off in early 2027, with a theatrical release penciled in for February 2028.

Previously, in November 2024, Denzel Washington publicly revealed that he would be joining the cast of the third Black Panther installment.

It appears Marvel’s leadership has placed significant trust in Coogler’s vision — especially following the strong theatrical performance of Sinners.
