Rumor: New Wonder Woman Movie Delayed Following Supergirl’s Failure

DC Studios has reportedly placed the development of its new “Wonder Woman” project on hold, according to information shared by the outlet World of Reel.

This decision allegedly stems from the underwhelming commercial performance of the recent “Supergirl” film, which grossed only $127 million worldwide against a production budget of $180 million. The resulting losses for Warner Bros. are estimated to exceed $100 million. Notably, Ana Nogueira served as the screenwriter for both “Supergirl” and the planned “Wonder Woman” solo film.

The casting for the next iteration of Wonder Woman remains officially unconfirmed. Media reports have repeatedly speculated about Adria Arjona (“Andor”) taking on the mantle. The actress holds a secret role in the upcoming “Superman: Man of Tomorrow,” slated for release in July 2027.

Gal Gadot, who most recently portrayed Wonder Woman on the big screen, has stated that she does not intend to reprise the role.
