Remedy Warns of Profit Drop After FBC: Firebreak Update Fails
The studio reports that its long-term sales outlook has been revised downward and expects a loss of €14.9 million, which will cover the majority of capitalized development expenses and the costs for acquired publishing and distribution rights.
The company’s balance sheet is not directly compromised, but operating profit (EBIT) for the year will be lower than the previous period. Although player activity and sales improved following the update, Remedy acknowledged the project fell short of its internal sales targets.
Chief Executive Officer Tero Virtala stated that development on the game will continue:
“We are adjusting our investments while continuing to expand and refine the game in line with the revised sales forecast.”
The next update, codenamed Rogue Protocol, is scheduled for late November and will introduce a roguelike Endless Shift mode, voice chat, and Control-inspired suits. In March 2026 the game will receive the Crisis Kit and additional enhancements to the synergy system.
