I had seemed away from the Xbox Games Showcase for a mere couple of minutes when the brand new Psychonauts 2 trailer dropped, so it’s possible you’ll perceive my shock once I began listening to Jack Black’s voice blaring by means of my headphones. That’s proper, Double Fine’s sequel to the weird brain-exploring platformer will characteristic songs carried out by the School Of Rock instructor himself.
Here’s that trailer with the, admittedly, fairly cool track he’s carried out for it:
The inside Jack Black’s mind is extra psychedelic than I assumed it might be. He isn’t only a musician for the game, although. The devs say he truly performs “a mysterious ball of light” that helps the participant on their mission. That’s a very good one for the ol’ CV. Jack Black has been pally with Double Fine since starring in Brutal Legend.
The game’s story follows on straight from the primary game, with the participant leaping into the footwear of Raz, who has formally joined the Psychonauts – however now he wants to analyze some unusual goings-on contained in the company.
Psychonauts 2 was introduced again in 2016, with Double Fine running a successful crowdfunder to get the sequel rolling. Microsoft bought-up the studio last year although, therefore why we’re seeing this as a part of an Xbox showcase (although the game is coming to different platforms, too).
The game is coming to Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox, and PS4 in 2021. It’s on Xbox Game Pass too. Check out the website for more information.
