Publisher Team17 and Polish developer Sonka have announced that psychological survival horror game Holstin will launch in 2027. The game is scheduled for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Game Pass.

Set in the isolated Polish town of Jeziorne-Kolonia, the story follows protagonist Tomasz Wolański as he searches for his missing friend. The investigative journalist was last heard from in the lakeside community, which has since been overrun by a mysterious infection and grotesque creatures.

Players must navigate the town, scavenge weapons and supplies, solve environmental puzzles, and speak with the few remaining survivors. As the locals slowly slip into madness, players must navigate their delusions and earn their trust to piece together what happened.

Holstin is built on Sonka’s proprietary 2XD Rendering technology, which merges hand-drawn pixel art with dynamic lighting and real-time 3D camera angles. The camera supports eight rotation angles and shifts dynamically across different perspectives, including isometric exploration, an over-the-shoulder view for combat encounters, a first-person perspective for driving sequences, top-down exploration, and side-scrolling platforming sections.

The team is focusing heavily on recreating late 1990s Poland. The game captures a post-Soviet Eastern European aesthetic through period-accurate interior design, household appliances, faded wallpaper, local signage, and weathered urban architecture.
