Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Newest Event Highlights Its Most Frustrating Feature

Pokémon TCG Pocket is currently hosting its latest Drop Event, a recurring limited-time window where collectors can snag exclusive promo cards. This iteration features the formidable Mega Medicham ex as its centerpiece. While these events are a staple of the mobile title, they simultaneously highlight a lingering frustration within the community: the tedious, manual process of opening individual reward packs.

These events task players with overcoming AI-controlled decks designed specifically around the new rewards. Success in these solo battles yields single-card booster packs. This specific lineup includes Mudkip, Plusle, Ralts, Tornadus, and the aforementioned Mega Medicham ex. Naturally, players aim to hoard as many packs as possible to complete the set before the event concludes.

The friction, however, lies in the user interface. Once earned, these promo packs are sent directly to the “Gifts” screen. Instead of a streamlined “Open All” function, players are forced to interact with each pack individually. If you have spent time grinding out half a dozen rewards, you are stuck sitting through the same animation repeatedly, with no way to bypass the ritual in bulk.

This isn’t a new grievance; it has been a consistent thorn in the side of the player base. A viral Reddit thread from earlier this year utilized an American Psycho meme to mock the inefficiency, drawing thousands of upvotes. Sarcastic commenters joked that such a revolutionary feature might not arrive for another decade, ribbing the developers for the slow pace of technical improvements.

While it may seem like a minor nitpick, it represents a broader trend of sluggish quality-of-life (QoL) updates. Despite TCG Pocket’s massive commercial success and frequent card drops, fundamental interface enhancements remain absent. Fans have been vocal in requesting dark mode, skippable animations, and universal pack points since the game’s debut. The development focus appears heavily skewed toward new content and monetization, leaving the user experience feeling somewhat neglected.

As the current event rolls on, trainers are once again left rhythmically tapping through their gift inventories. Whether the developers will eventually implement a “Claim All” button or simply deposit cards directly into collections remains to be seen. For now, players must continue to endure the slow grind—one pack at a time.
