Pokémon Pokopia’s Free Update Brings Winds and Waves to Fans

While fans will have to wait until 2027 to experience Pokémon Winds and Waves, Pokémon Pokopia enthusiasts won’t be sidelined for long. During Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation, the developer unveiled an exciting, complimentary expansion that invites players to explore the game’s underwater depths.

<p>With the new “Dive” ability, Ditto will be able to interact with a vibrant array of marine life. The latest trailer showcases Ditto constructing aquatic habitats for fan-favorite Pokémon, including Vaporeon, Magikarp, and Poliwag. Prior to this update, players had to rely on creative workarounds to simulate an underwater environment. This substantial update arrives in August 2026, introducing a vast collection of water-themed decorative items to customize your island.</p>

<p>Beyond the free update, Nintendo revealed an extensive expansion pass for the building sim. It promises to deliver a brand-new town, additional furniture sets, exclusive outfits, and a roster of new Pokémon such as Popplio and Mudkip. The first installment, "Bubbly Basin," is available starting today, while the broader features and new explorable regions are slated for rollout between late 2026 and 2027.</p>
