Pokémon Let’s Go: evolution stone locations and evolutions
A hidden Moon Stone beside a crater in Mt. Moon.
In Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Let’s Go, Eevee on Nintendo Switch, evolution stones let specific Pokémon evolve without reaching another level. Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf and Ice Stones are sold in Celadon City. Moon Stones must be found elsewhere in Kanto.
Your starting partner Pikachu or Eevee cannot evolve. To get Raichu, Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon, use a stone on another Pikachu or Eevee, such as one caught in the wild.
Which evolution stone do you need?
| Stone | Pokémon evolution |
|---|---|
| Moon Stone | Nidorina → Nidoqueen, Nidorino → Nidoking, Clefairy → Clefable, Jigglypuff → Wigglytuff |
| Fire Stone | Vulpix → Ninetales, Growlithe → Arcanine, Eevee → Flareon |
| Water Stone | Poliwhirl → Poliwrath, Shellder → Cloyster, Staryu → Starmie, Eevee → Vaporeon |
| Thunder Stone | Pikachu → Raichu, Eevee → Jolteon |
| Leaf Stone | Gloom → Vileplume, Weepinbell → Victreebel, Exeggcute → Exeggutor |
| Ice Stone | Alolan Vulpix → Alolan Ninetales, Alolan Sandshrew → Alolan Sandslash |
The Fire Stone entry applies to Kanto Vulpix. Alolan Vulpix needs an Ice Stone instead.
Moon Stones in Mt. Moon and Saffron City
Search the craters on Mt. Moon’s second basement level. Two hidden Moon Stones can be collected there each real-world day. Watch your partner Pikachu or Eevee while approaching a crater. A rapidly wagging tail signals a nearby hidden item.

In Saffron City, visit Copycat’s house to the left of the Gym. Go upstairs to her room and check the white cupboard for another hidden Moon Stone.
Buying stones in Celadon City
Enter Celadon Department Store and take the elevator to 4F: Wiseman Gifts. Speak to the clerk to buy Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf or Ice Stones for 5,000 Pokédollars each. Moon Stones are not stocked.
The shop provides an alternative to searching individual routes. Check the evolution table before buying, especially for Pokémon with regional forms or several possible evolutions.
Free alternatives around Kanto
- Fire Stone: search the Pokémon Mansion on Cinnabar Island. Another can be found on Route 8.
- Leaf Stone: look on Route 2, near the Diglett’s Cave exit. You need Chop Down to reach it. Victory Road offers another location later in the journey.
- Water Stone: search Route 12, south of Lavender Town. Another can be found on Route 21.
- Thunder Stone: search the Power Plant or Route 10.
