GTA 6’s Biggest Rival Is Officially Coming to PC in 2027
Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be one of 2026’s biggest releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but another ambitious open-world game is on the horizon. Ananta blends an anime aesthetic with ideas reminiscent of GTA, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Genshin Impact.
NetEase Games showcased Ananta during Gamescom Opening Night Live, revealing an early 2027 release date. The game has attracted attention since its announcement, with its colorful world and freewheeling action earning it comparisons to an anime-inspired Grand Theft Auto.
The release date trailer introduces players to a supernatural investigator who takes on dangerous enemies. Story details remain limited, but the action makes an impression: at one point, the protagonist clings to the side of a plane in flight, in a stunt worthy of Tom Cruise.
Gameplay footage highlights two sprawling open-world cities to explore by land and air. Players can get around using scooters, cars, and futuristic vehicles, while mini-games and other activities offer diversions from the main story.
Ananta also reaches beyond its GTA influences. Earlier trailers showed characters swinging through anime-styled cityscapes in a manner familiar to Spider-Man fans. The combination suggests a game with broad ambitions, bringing together a wide range of open-world activities.

Although Ananta will be free to play, it does not appear to follow the character-focused gacha model used by Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. In-game purchases are expected to focus on cosmetics, vehicles, and decorations rather than character unlocks. Its social RPG features may make Grand Theft Auto Online a closer point of comparison.
Ananta is scheduled to launch on January 15, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Android, and iOS.
