Ed Boon Asks Players to Choose a Title for the New Mortal Kombat, Mentions Marvel vs. Capcom 4

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has asked fans to vote on a title for the franchise’s next game.

In an interview, Boon mentioned that a new game was in development but did not share details. Mortal Kombat 1, released in 2023, is no longer receiving support.

Boon offered three title options in the social media poll. More than 52,000 votes had been cast, with the results as follows:

• Mortal Kombat 13 — 31.3%
• Mortal Kombat 12 — 23.3%
• Mortal Kombat 2 — 45.3%

Boon also asked fans which of two Marvel superhero games they would like to see next. More than 38,000 votes had been cast:

• Marvel Tokkon 2 from Arc System — 14.9%
• Marvel vs Capcom 4 — 85.1%

The superhero fighting game poll comes amid rumors that NetherRealm Studios’ next project will be Injustice 3, a fighting game featuring DC Comics characters.
