Pokémon Legends: Z‑A launched on October 16, 2025 for both the Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2. In its opening week the title sold approximately 5.8 million copies, according to a press release from The Pokémon Company, with roughly half of those sales occurring on the Switch 2. That first‑week tally places Legends: Z‑A as the franchise’s fifth‑strongest launch week. Ahead of it are Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet (a combined 10 million copies in three days), Pokémon Legends: Arceus (6.5 million in three days), Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield (6 million in three days), and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl (also 6 million in three days), as reported by Video Games Chronicle.
