Playable GTA VI Build Threatened to Be Leaked if Anything Happens to Hacker
Under certain conditions, Grand Theft Auto VI could end up on PC earlier than expected.
A hacker or group operating under the name Cyberleek has recently been circulating leaked Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay footage online. Efforts are underway to track down the perpetrator, but capturing them could trigger even larger problems for the publisher.
Cyberleek published a statement claiming to possess a fully playable build of the game. The hacker alleges that the necessary files have already been copied and mirrored across multiple locations to prevent Take-Two Interactive from taking them down:
Copies are on drives and servers around the world, in places Take-Two cannot reach. There is nothing left to seize. There is no server that could be taken down.

Cyberleek is threatening to publish the files if anything happens to them, claiming a contingency plan is already in place. The release of the GTA VI build is reportedly pre-scheduled and must be actively canceled on a regular schedule:
If anything happens to [Cyberleek], if they miss even a single morning, the “release cancellation” will stop. No one will have to press anything. The scheduled release will simply stop being canceled, and within a few days GTA VI will be running on the PCs of millions of gamers worldwide.
Rockstar Games is scheduled to showcase GTA VI on August 27 during a presentation on Netflix.
The official launch of Grand Theft Auto VI is set for November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not yet announced a release date or launch window for the PC version.
