Pikmin 4 Gets Free Update With Photo Mode, Difficulty Levels and Other New Features
Nintendo has unexpectedly announced a substantial free update for Pikmin 4, arriving in November on Nintendo Switch. The trailer revealed several new features that enrich the gameplay experience, and a free demo will be released on the eShop alongside the update.
The headline addition is a photo mode, accessed via a new “Field Camera” gadget in the backpack. Players will be able to capture striking moments from their journey, apply frames, stamps, and custom embellishments to images. You can even compile a calendar featuring your best shots.
The update introduces adorned Pikmin — special new variants hidden throughout the world. They’re not easy to find, but the loyal Dingo will provide helpful clues to players aiming to collect them all. These Pikmin can also be transferred to the mobile title Pikmin Bloom.
For those who want to tailor the challenge, a “creature activity level” setting has been added to adjust enemy aggressiveness and toughness across three tiers: Calm, Normal, and Intense. This makes Pikmin 4 approachable for newcomers while still offering depth for seasoned players.
