People Wouldn’t Play Even for Free: Highguard Servers to Shut Down Next Week
The title originally made its debut this past January.
Highguard, the free-to-play competitive shooter, is set to permanently cease operations on March 12. Developer Wildlight Entertainment shared the news while expressing deep gratitude to the community for their support since the project’s launch early this year.
The studio noted that despite the team’s “passion and relentless hard work,” the game struggled to build a sustainable player base large enough to justify long-term maintenance and development.
As a final farewell, Highguard will receive one last content update, scheduled for release within the next 24 to 48 hours. This concluding patch will introduce a new playable Guardian, a fresh weapon, an account leveling system, and expanded skill trees.
