Paradox Announces Post-Apocalyptic Survival Grand Strategy Game Afterworld
Paradox Interactive has officially announced Afterworld, a new post-apocalyptic grand strategy survival game from Paradox Development Studio, the creators of Crusader Kings III and Hearts of Iron IV. Details about the title had previously surfaced early after an error on the company’s official forum.
The project is framed as a grand strategy survival title set in the ruins of the collapsed old world. To establish a burgeoning empire, players must first “ensure the survival of the survivors” by gathering vital resources, including water, fuel, and food, while scouting a procedurally generated map of North America.
According to the developers, as a faction expands, Afterworld transforms into a “complex and large-scale strategy game in the best Paradox traditions”:
Settle new lands and redevelop forgotten technologies. Build settlements, forge alliances, and fight cultists, bandits, and immortal Ancients claiming dominion over the world.

Players can already add Afterworld to their Steam wishlist. The development team has not yet announced a specific release date or launch window on the store page.
