Tales of Xillia Remastered, the latest entry in Bandai Namco’s “Tale of Remastered Project,” is scheduled for release on October 31. This marks the 13th title in the JRPG franchise, updated for modern platforms. Ahead of launch, general producer Yūsuke Tomizawa spoke about the remastering work and how players are responding.
Tomizawa confirmed that more than two remasters are currently in development. One of the projects is approaching its final stages, and an official announcement should arrive in the near future.
On player reaction, the team is encouraged that the remasters are being released simultaneously across multiple regions and platforms. Tomizawa pointed out that over 70% of the series’ players are based outside Japan.
The producer noted that, with the expansion of the overseas audience, it’s become evident that “when we present JRPGs to the world, the love for the characters is the same regardless of country.” Reactions from international players are not substantially different from those in Japan, “and that’s a good thing.” Therefore, the team focuses on creating engaging games that stay true to the spirit of the Tales of series rather than trying to specifically cater to foreign markets.
