Original Heroes of Might and Magic III and Horn of the Abyss Mod Released on Steam

Some players were never satisfied with the remastered release of the strategy classic.

For years, Steam has offered PC players Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition, an updated release based solely on the 1999 base game The Restoration of Erathia. Players now have the opportunity to add the complete original version to their digital libraries as well.

Ubisoft Entertainment recently announced a remake of Heroes of Might and Magic III and launched the original Heroes of Might and Magic III on Steam. This release includes both official expansions, Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death:

Slain by traitors and resurrected by necromancers as a lich, the late King of Erathia commands his former kingdom’s closest enemies to conquer it. But standing in the lich’s way is his daughter Catherine, Queen of Enroth, who has returned to her homeland’s shores. You must defend Erathia, torn apart by foreign and domestic foes. Command the greatest heroes and most ferocious creatures under the banners of Queen Catherine, who seeks to restore her native lands, track down her father’s murderer, and free her parent from the prison of his undead body.

Alongside the release of the original game on Steam, the well-known community modification Heroes of Might and Magic III: Horn of the Abyss also arrived on the platform. Created by the HotA Crew, this fan expansion adds new content and expands core gameplay, introducing factions such as Cove, Factory, and Kronverk.

The modification’s Steam page is now live. Installing the mod requires owning Heroes of Might and Magic III in your Steam library.
