NVIDIA Acknowledges Graphics Card Supply Issues
NVIDIA has pivoted its narrative regarding the supply of gaming graphics cards. While the company previously dismissed concerns, it now acknowledges that the situation is becoming increasingly strained.
Despite the gaming division reporting a robust quarterly revenue of $3.7 billion—a 47% surge year-over-year—investors remain wary about the outlook for the coming months.
During a recent earnings call, leadership was questioned about the availability of gaming hardware through 2026, particularly given the ongoing volatility in prices and the scarcity of RAM and VRAM.
CFO Colette Kress described the memory supply chain as “extremely constrained,” noting that these bottlenecks are expected to persist for several quarters. She explained that even if NVIDIA intended to bolster inventory levels in the short term, procurement remains a significant challenge. Any potential recovery toward the end of the year would serve as a baseline for re-evaluating future expansion.
Officially, NVIDIA maintains that it is fulfilling all production kit shipments for the GeForce RTX 50 series to its partners. However, industry insiders, including Hardware Unboxed, suggest that production has halted for certain GPUs—most notably the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, which is already experiencing sharp price hikes at retail.
