We’re pleased to present another hands-on preview of the Nordic Horizons map expansion for our fantastic #BestCommunityEver. Today’s spotlight is on Trondheim — a picturesque city brought to life in-game — and the new oversized cargo routes available to owners of the Special Transport DLC.

Perched on the shores of the Trondheimsfjord, Trondheim is steeped in more than a millennium of history, tracing its origins to 997 AD when Olav Tryggvason founded the settlement. Our map artists recreated a number of well-known landmarks and neighborhoods, so players familiar with the real city will recognise many faithful touches.

In Trondheim’s northern sector, the Rv706 features an unusual two-level roundabout that spans both ground level and an underground deck, feeding into a tunnel toward the city centre. Close by you’ll find a shopping mall, the municipal town hall, and Leangen train station — all positioned to mirror their real-world proximity.

Following the Rv706 toward the port, you enter an area rich in history and industry: the Dora submarine pens stand sentinel beside the Trondheim Maritime Center and a local manufacturing facility. Nearby you can spot the popular waterfront sauna and cultural venue — each element modelled to capture the character of the real location.

We’ve also highlighted subtler architectural details that enrich the atmosphere: port utilities shaped like a submarine sail, sculptural installations on roundabouts, and other idiosyncratic features that help sell the sense of place.

Trondheim is a key transport hub linking Norway’s more populated southern regions with the far north. That strategic role is reflected in the map with a variety of industry locations to serve as delivery points: supermarket, scrapyard, furniture factory, quarry, construction site, river port, and a paper mill. At the river port, the construction site and the paper mill you’ll be able to experience the new dynamic cargo loading and unloading feature (loading at the river port, unloading at the construction site and paper mill).

Oversized Hauls in Nordic Horizons
If you own the Special Transport DLC, Nordic Horizons adds five dedicated oversized routes, each supported by escort vehicles and local police to facilitate safe passage. The expansion also introduces new cargo types such as the Wind Turbine Blade and the Underground Loader — more details are available in the full developer blog.

These special jobs pay a premium for the extra skill and patience required. Even with escort support, manoeuvring enormous loads through narrow curves and challenging terrain remains a true test of driving ability. Ready to accept the challenge? Here are the new routes:
- Jyväskylä → Vaasa (Finland)
- Kuopio → Kajaani (Finland)
- Oulu → Rovaniemi (Finland)
- Narvik → Kiruna (Norway → Sweden)
- Trondheim → Östersund (Norway → Sweden)
If you don’t yet own the Special Transport DLC but want to try these demanding assignments, you can purchase it on Steam here.
