Nintendo Switch 2 Without Shovelware? Strict Game Selection Coming to eShop
Owners of the original Nintendo Switch are well aware of the current predicament: the eShop has devolved into a cluttered repository of digital shovelware. Learning from these past missteps, the Japanese gaming giant has implemented a rigorous gatekeeping policy for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Instead of allowing a flood of low-budget projects and AI-generated titles, Nintendo is pivoting toward a strategy of strict curation to ensure the platform’s virtual storefront remains premium and organized.
Dave Oshry, CEO of New Blood Interactive, shed light on this new direction. He noted that their hit title, *Dusk*, performs at a seamless 120 FPS on the next-generation hardware. However, the studio is still navigating the approval process, as Nintendo has become significantly more discerning during release certification.
Despite the more stringent requirements, the rapport with developers remains exceptionally high. Oshry emphasized that Nintendo continues to foster collaborative relationships, which provides hope for a more streamlined and high-quality digital marketplace on the Switch 2.
