HBO Releases Full Trailer for DC Series Lanterns

DC Studios has launched its new series Lanterns on HBO and HBO Max, rolling out a new trailer, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and an official companion podcast alongside the premiere.

The first season consists of eight episodes, with new installments airing on Mondays. To mark the debut, HBO released a nearly three-minute trailer featuring footage from upcoming episodes.

Lanterns follows Green Lantern Corps veteran Hal Jordan and newcomer John Stewart. The duo investigates a murder in the American heartland, gradually uncovering a much larger extraterrestrial threat behind the crime.

HBO also shared two behind-the-scenes videos. The first provides a four-minute breakdown of the premiere episode featuring the cast and creators.

The second featurette focuses on the dynamic between Hal and John, highlighting the on-screen chemistry between Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre.

The official Lanterns podcast also debuted alongside the show. In the first episode, host Juju Green discusses the premiere with showrunner Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. The creators explain why they framed the series as a grounded detective mystery, set the story in Nebraska, and introduced Green Lantern lore in a way that remains accessible without prior comic book knowledge.

At the time of publication, the first season of Lanterns holds a 90% critics score and an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The season finale is scheduled to air on October 4.
