The collection directly ties into the storyline of Avengers: Doomsday, which unites characters across three distinct cinematic universes against a shared threat in Victor von Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.

Returning from the Fox Marvel films are Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer, who reprise their roles as Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Mystique, Nightcrawler, and Beast.
