Nintendo has rolled out a system update, version 21.1.0, for both the original Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2. The update has already started downloading automatically on consoles connected to the internet.
The official patch notes are succinct: “general system stability improvements to enhance the user experience.” The release doesn’t introduce major additions like home-menu themes. However, Nintendo separately confirmed one important change not listed in the official notes: a fix for a bug that caused video playback in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch 2 to behave incorrectly.
