On November 12, 2025, Nintendo released the first full trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. A few days later, on November 17, 2025, the company posted new material for a different project: early set photos from the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. The images were shared via the Nintendo Today app and across social channels, giving fans their first clear look at Link and Zelda in costume.

The photos depict Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda in a broad, verdant landscape—presumably a cinematic interpretation of Hyrule—while principal photography continues in New Zealand. Alongside the images, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto posted a short message confirming production progress and the film’s scheduled release.
“This is Miyamoto. Filming is underway for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda in a lush, natural setting, with Bo Bragason-san who will play Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san who will play Link. Filming is on track for the film’s release on May 7, 2027. It will take a while until the release, so we would be grateful if you would wait patiently and look forward to it.”
From these stills, costume cues appear to draw from the recent Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom aesthetics. Zelda’s outfit leans toward blue rather than her classic pinks and purples, while Link’s green attire calls to mind elements of his Twilight Princess era—though his cap-less styling echoes the more modern designs fans will recognize. Notably, Link is shown unarmed in these images, which raises questions about the characters’ dynamic in the scene: is Zelda acting as a guide or protector here, or is this an early moment in Link’s journey toward courage and capability?
Details beyond the two leads remain scarce, but Miyamoto’s statement confirms a release date of May 7, 2027 for the film. Fans can expect more information as production progresses and additional promotional material is released.
