Another iconic Nintendo franchise may make its way to the big screen in the coming years.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Nintendo is preparing a Metroid adaptation that would be the company’s next major film project after The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the anticipated Legend of Zelda feature.
There are no confirmed details yet about the studio, screenwriter, or director. Still, the move fits Nintendo’s recent push into filmmaking — the company has been steadily expanding its cinematic efforts. Besides the Zelda project, a Super Mario Galaxy–inspired film is already in production, with a release currently set for April 3, 2026.
As for who might portray Samus Aran, Brie Larson — best known for Captain Marvel — has frequently expressed admiration for the character. She once dressed as Samus for Halloween and has said she would be interested in playing the heroine if a Metroid film ever materializes.
