Oscar‑winning actor Nicolas Cage is reuniting with John Woo, the director of Face/Off.
The pair are collaborating on a new film, Gambino, which focuses on New York mob boss Carlo Gambino. The story follows journalist Jimmy Breslin as he investigates Gambino’s (played by Cage) death in 1976. Gambino once headed one of the powerful Five Families of New York’s Italian‑American mafia.
The screenplay was written by George Gallo (Bad Boys) and Nick Vallelonga (Green Book). No release date has been announced. Woo and Cage previously worked together on the high‑concept action thriller Face/Off (1997), in which an FBI agent and a terrorist swap faces and lives.
Cage recently appeared in the biblical horror Son of the Carpenter and is slated to star in the fifth season of HBO’s True Detective.
