New Silksong Patch Expands Controller Support, Squashes Bugs

Hollow Knight: Silksong — Patch 1.0.28891 Released

Hollow Knight: Silksong update 1.0.28891 from Team Cherry is now available. This release adds compatibility for the DualSense Edge, improves controller support on macOS, and introduces an automatic pause when a controller disconnects — preventing gameplay interruptions from signal loss or depleted batteries.

The patch also addresses a range of bugs, including several fixes for out-of-bounds issues and adjustments to enemy and boss behaviours to make encounters more consistent.

Full patch notes for version 1.0.28891:

  • Added DualSense Edge controller support.
  • Improved controller compatibility on Mac systems.
  • Game now pauses automatically if a controller disconnects.
  • Resolved various minor controller-related problems (further improvements planned).
  • Fixed the last remaining case where some players became permanently stuck cursed in late-game sequences.
  • Corrected Curveclaw so it responds properly to the Hunter down-stab.
  • Fixed rare cases where air dash and double jump could be performed unintentionally.
  • Addressed multiple out-of-bounds exploits and unintended escapes.
  • Fixed Pharlid Divers sliding across roofs after ambushes in certain scenes.
  • Prevented Eva Hunter Crest upgrades from unintentionally clearing tool equips.
  • Fixed rare scenarios where Harpoon granted 2 Silk instead of 1.
  • Corrected Cogflies spawning from incorrect locations after scene transitions and rare reductions in active counts.
  • Fixed Crafting Kits not increasing damage for offensive blue tools (for example, Sawtooth Circlet).
  • Slight damage increase for Sharp Dart and Cross Stitch.
  • Adjusted Rune Rage damage scaling to align with other Silk Skills.
  • Reduced Thread Storm damage somewhat at higher needle levels.
  • Fixed Surgeon enemies occasionally pulling the hero out of bounds.
  • Fixed some Spool Fragments becoming permanently missable if a player quit immediately after collecting them.
  • Resolved Crust King Khann occasionally falling out of bounds during entry on lower-end systems.
  • Fixed a rare case where Second Sentinel appeared rotated after defeat.
  • Fixed another instance of Seth leaving bounds and not returning.
  • Resolved an issue where Seth could remain briefly invincible at the start of a refight.
  • Fixed Vaults slide blocks responding incorrectly to damage sources other than the needle.
  • Changed Fine Pins wish drops to a guaranteed 100% chance but increased the number required.
  • Fixed problems when consuming a Silkeater while submerged in water.
  • Prevented Scuttlebrace from allowing an unintended wall jump in some cases.
  • Fixed a soft-lock that could occur during the Grand Gate opening sequence if the Citadel had been visited while some bellshrines remained inactive.
  • Various additional minor fixes and tweaks.

These are mostly small balance and stability adjustments. Team Cherry published the update on the game’s Steam announcements rather than on their developer blog, so players hoping for larger balance overhauls may need to wait for a subsequent patch.
