British actor Freddie Highmore, known for his roles in The Good Doctor and Bates Motel, is set to co-write and star in the upcoming series I’m Not Here to Hurt You.
The plot centers on a devoted family man who accidentally kills a pedestrian while cycling. Haunted by the tragedy, he vows to never cause harm to anyone again; however, this resolution ironically leads to even more dire consequences, as the body count around him begins to rise.
Highmore is collaborating on the project with The Good Doctor creator David Shore. The series is slated for release on the Canadian streaming platform Crave.
The show is inspired by the true story of John O’Hegarty, famously dubbed the “most polite Irish robber,” who carried out 15 bank heists in 2004. In each instance, O’Hegarty would begin his robbery with the chillingly polite phrase, “I’m not here to hurt you.”
Highmore rose to prominence as a child actor in films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland, and The Spiderwick Chronicles. The Good Doctor aired on ABC from 2017 to 2024, chronicling the life of a brilliant surgeon living with autism.
