New TV Footage Reinforces Classic Resident Evil Tone for Resident Evil Requiem
Capcom has deliberately kept many details about its next installment, Resident Evil Requiem, under wraps—beyond confirming protagonist Grace Ashcroft and a return to Raccoon City. Rumors have swirled about the game’s scope, possible narrative links to Resident Evil Outbreak, and whether Leon S. Kennedy might appear as a playable character.
Fresh gameplay shown on a Japanese television special gives us a clearer impression of the game’s atmosphere—and it looks very promising.
A short clip shared on X by horror-game commentator AestheticGamer (Dusk Golem) shows Grace facing off against classic, slow-moving zombies in an interior environment that evokes early-series locations—think Spencer Mansion or the Raccoon City Police Department, and possibly the Rhodes Hill clinic glimpsed in prior demos. The combat and the moments when Grace becomes overwhelmed by hordes recall the tight, survival-focused feel of the recent Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes, in a way that should please longtime fans.

As Dusk Golem notes, the footage was likely the broadcast-safe (censored) edit, so Western releases of the game should contain the fuller, more graphic presentation fans expect from recent series entries.
With The Game Awards 2025 imminent and Capcom likely to participate, don’t be surprised if more footage or announcements drop soon—perhaps even confirmation of Leon’s return. The game’s launch is approaching quickly.
Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to release for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on February 27, 2026.
