The franchise is getting a full-fledged shooter after all.

Blizzard Entertainment announced a new project in the StarCraft franchise during the September presentation at BlizzCon 2026. The developers released a cinematic trailer titled Dominion.

Dan Hay presented the project. He previously worked as a producer on Far Cry and contributed to the latest numbered entries in that franchise. He now leads the development of StarCraft. According to him, the game will be an open-world shooter.

At this time, the game is known simply as StarCraft, without any subtitle or number. The video description includes a synopsis:

The sons and daughters of the Dominion answered the call when humanity needed them most. Their courage allowed [humanity to be protected]. Their sacrifice allowed us to endure. Now the call comes to you. Carry on their work—no matter the cost.

The new StarCraft does not have a specific release date yet. At the end of the promotional video, the developers left a message stating that they will “return in 2030.”

Rumors previously circulated that Blizzard Entertainment might be planning a new StarCraft strategy game supposedly created by South Korean developers.
