New Footage of Made in Abyss Movie Released
The characters will head to the seventh layer of the Abyss in just a month.
The creators of the feature anime “Made in Abyss: The Mystery of Awakening” have shared a new selection of stills from the upcoming film. One of them offers the first official look at Nishagora, a new character the heroes will encounter while exploring the seventh layer.
The film will continue the events of the second season, “The Golden City of the Scorching Sun”. Riko, Reg, Nanachi, and Faputa will venture into the dangerous and practically unexplored depths of the Abyss.

Studio Kinema Citrus is handling production, with Masayuki Kojima returning as director. Hideyuki Kurata wrote the screenplay, while Yuka Kuroda and Kazuchika Kise from Production I.G are handling character design. Composer Kevin Penkin teamed up with VTuber Mori Calliope to create the main theme song, “Chain of the Abyss”.
The film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 23, 2026, and international release dates have not yet been announced.
