The title is slated for launch on PC and PlayStation 5 before the end of the year.
Japanese developer GPTRACK50 has unveiled a fresh trailer alongside new insights and visuals for their eccentric action-RPG, Stupid Never Dies.
Set in a post-apocalyptic era following the “Great War,” humanity teeters on the brink of extinction while monsters reign supreme. Players follow Davy, a soft-spoken zombie dwelling at the lowest rung of this monstrous hierarchy within the ruins of a deserted shopping center.
Everything changes when Davy discovers a frozen young woman named Julia in a walk-in freezer. Smitten at first sight, he embarks on a quest to somehow bring her back to life and secure his very first date.
After accidentally consuming a mysterious delicacy, Davy is endowed with bizarre and potent abilities. Joined by the eccentric Dr. Frank—who dreams of humanity’s resurgence—and a cast of dubious yet charismatic outcasts, Davy ventures into perilous, monster-infested dungeons.
Players will navigate this unlikely hero’s journey to see if he can reclaim the world for humanity, resurrect Julia, and perhaps find love for the first time.
The game features a versatile “Styles” system, allowing players to fundamentally shift the protagonist’s combat capabilities. These include:
- Zombie Style — Davy’s fundamental balanced form
- Werewolf Style — High-speed mobility designed for relentless aggression
- Harpy Style — Grants flight and sophisticated long-range aerial attacks
- Golem Style — A heavy-hitting, resilient form capable of devastating crowd control
- Vampire Style — Harnesses the power to command swarms of bats
- Will-o’-the-Wisp Style — Enables phase-shifting between physical and astral planes
- Cyclops Style — High-risk, high-reward power strikes
- Snow Fairy Style — Freezes enemies and siphons their vital energy
- Merfolk Style — Subterranean maneuvers that mimic aquatic movement
- Lich Style — Master death-based magic and summon skeletal thralls
- Demon Style — Manipulate gravity and dominate foes with whip-based attacks
A standout feature is the “Body Hack” system, enabling players to modify Davy’s undead anatomy. This mechanic allows for the installation of various technological enhancements, weapons, and modules across his limbs, head, and feet.
GPTRACK50 describes Stupid Never Dies as a distinctive single-player experience, blending high-octane action with an offbeat narrative and experimental character progression systems.
