Developers of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Fix Mouse Freezing Issue

A recent technical update led to unexpected issues.

In August, developer Unfrozen returned to Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era and released a minor update, “v. 0.80.35”. It is a purely technical hotfix designed to fix a specific problem where some players experienced broken controls.

The development team investigated the issue and found that it occurred only for owners of computer mice from certain manufacturers (they did not publish a full list). After installing the update, nothing of the sort should happen anymore. Players joked that “the mouse will no longer freeze in terror”.

According to the HOMM: Olden Era developers, this problem arose after a recent update to the networking library. They did not specify how such an update could affect specific computer mice.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is still in Steam Early Access. The game is planned to remain in this status for about a year (it was released in April 2026), but this timeframe may change if “player feedback significantly impacts the course of development” of the game. Studio Unfrozen is currently preparing new PvE content and more.
