New Battlefield 6 map called “worst in the series”; shooter receives mixed reviews on Steam
Not everyone was impressed by the new content.
Battlefield 6 recently launched its first season. Players have been exploring the additions and sharing their feedback.
Many were dissatisfied with the new map. The backlash against Blackwell Fields has been strong enough that some players have dubbed it the worst in the series.
There are several reasons for the criticism:
- The map is compact but contains a surprising amount of open ground.
- Vehicles positioned in the map’s “blue zone” make infantry easy targets; forcing enemies out of armor is extremely difficult, and players like ButtPlugForPM argue that “on this map it’s practically impossible to die in a tank.”
- Aircraft are easy to shoot down because anti-air defenses and the “Stinger” blanket the entire map.
- The location feels heavily restricted: areas at the map’s edge that community members expected to access are actually out of bounds.
Some players also complain about monetization (the amount and price of DLC) and the Battle Royale mode. The wave of negative feedback has impacted Battlefield 6’s Steam standing: recent reviews are now listed as “Mixed”.
