New Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Adds a Massive 3-Part Campaign for Astarion

From the opening moments of Baldur’s Gate 3, Astarion—the razor-tongued vampire spawn—grapples with the lingering trauma of two centuries spent under the tyrannical heel of his master, Cazador Szarr. The base game allows players to steer his fate across a wide moral spectrum: facilitating his ascension into an all-powerful dread lord, guiding him toward hard-won liberation, or indulging his thirst for raw vengeance. A striking custom campaign strips away the sprawling conflicts of the Sword Coast, condensing the narrative into an intimate, high-stakes psychological drama centered entirely on your bond with Astarion—and the devastating power of betrayal.

Crafted by modder lizardphunk, “A Dream of Silence: ReVamped” is an expansive, three-act campaign that translates an acclaimed piece of interactive fiction into a fully playable in-engine experience. Adapted from Abigail Corfman’s original Twine project, “A Dream of Silence,” the narrative revolves around a sinister entity known as a Bastellus—a creature that weaves waking nightmares out of its victim’s deepest psychological scars. Reimagined within Baldur’s Gate 3, the player and Astarion find themselves imprisoned inside an ever-shifting, hallucinatory reflection of Cazador’s palace. The campaign offers four distinct narrative conclusions alongside half a dozen freshly introduced characters, including fellow vampire spawn.

Corfman’s original text-based adventure placed players in the role of a disembodied presence inside Astarion’s fracturing psyche, carefully husbanding scarce emotional reserves across three essential interactions—Speech, Touch, and Sight—to keep him tethered against absolute despair. lizardphunk’s adaptation masterfully imports this tense resource-management dynamic into the Larian engine. Romancing players will find a crucible that either deepens their partnership or fractures it irrevocably, while those on an antagonistic path must confront the harrowing repercussions of their cruelty. Beyond the heavy narrative focus, the mod enriches exploration with day-specific encounters, unique weapons to uncover, and even a feline companion available for interaction.

Weighing in at approximately 1.3 GB, “A Dream of Silence: ReVamped” requires manual installation via Nexus Mods rather than the integrated mod manager, and is currently exclusive to Windows PC. Players should note that the campaign cannot be experienced from Astarion’s origin perspective; your avatar must be an external companion or custom character to navigate the unfolding drama. Furthermore, the mod is deliberately unvoiced—an ethical stance from the creator to respect the original cast by avoiding the use of generative AI or repurposed audio splices.

Spanning roughly six hours of custom gameplay, navigating the treacherous corridors of the Szarr estate presents moral dilemmas far more intimate than anything found in the base game. Salvaging Astarion’s humanity or consigning him to emotional oblivion remains entirely in your hands—whether you can live with the consequences is another matter entirely.
