Focus Features has announced the premiere date for a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Sense and Sensibility. According to media reports, the film will be released internationally on September 11, 2026.
The cast includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esme Creed-Miles, George MacKay, Frank Dillane, Katrina Balf, Fiona Shaw and others. The film is directed by Georgia Oakley (director of Sad Jean).
Set in eighteenth-century England, Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters — the reserved Elinor (Edgar-Jones) and the impassioned Marianne (Creed-Miles) — as they attempt to rebuild their lives and secure their future after their father’s death and the loss of the family fortune.
The most widely known film version remains the Oscar-winning 1995 adaptation starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet (pictured).
