Netflix Renews Blue Eye Samurai for Season 3
Netflix revealed new details for its animated series Blue Eye Samurai during Anime NYC on Aug. 20. The revenge drama was renewed shortly after premiering in November 2023, continuing the journey of Mizu (Maya Erskine) as she searches for and attempts to kill her father.
Season two is scheduled to arrive in January 2027. Netflix accompanied the announcement with a 90-second teaser that builds on the season 1 finale, where arms dealer Abijah Fowler (Kenneth Branagh) spared his life by offering to guide Mizu to London. His guidance aims to help her find two surviving white men who could be her father. The teaser shows a treacherous ocean voyage disrupted by a violent storm that sweeps sailors overboard, leaving Mizu to take the helm and reaffirm her quest for vengeance.
After the storm, Mizu awakens on deck with a blade pointed at her, seemingly wielded by Fowler after leaving his cell. Earlier footage screened at the Annecy Festival in June previewed Mizu’s arrival in Europe, showing an uneasy rapport between the two travelers. The narrative will also return to the allies remaining in Japan, where Mizu’s apprentice Ringo (Masi Oka) seeks a new purpose and Princess Akemi (Brenda Song) maneuvers through royal politics after the death of the Shogun.
Netflix also confirmed that the third and final season of Blue Eye Samurai is already in production.
