NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE Adaptation Gets Main Trailer and Release Date
The anime adaptation of the viral psychological visual novel featuring a volatile streamer is set to premiere on April 4.
The production team behind the NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE anime has unveiled the series’ main trailer and a fresh key visual featuring Choten-chan. Alongside the footage, the official release date was confirmed: the show will debut on April 4 at 18:30 Moscow Time.
The project is based on the titular game developed by WSS playground and xemono. Since its 2022 launch, the title has become a massive cult hit, currently holding nearly 50,000 reviews on Steam with a 94% “Very Positive” rating.
Players take on the role of a producer for a girl named Ame, who streams under the persona OMGkawaiiAngel in her desperate quest to become the internet’s #1 idol. While it initially mimics a streamer management sim, the experience gradually descends into disturbing psychological horror.
The anime will feature a standalone narrative set within the original universe rather than being a direct retelling of the game’s plot. Production is being handled by Yostar Pictures, the studio known for its work on the Arknights and Blue Archive adaptations.
Franchise creator Nyalra is overseeing the script and conceptual design. The project is directed by Masaoki Nakajima, who previously directed the short-form version of NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE. The score is being composed by the game’s original musical team: Aiobahn +81, Sasuke Haraguchi, and DÉ DÉ MOUSE.
