Naval RPG Sea of Remnants set for early 2027 release, closed beta begins in December
NetEase Games and Joker Studio have released a new trailer for their upcoming free-to-play maritime fantasy RPG, Sea of Remnants, confirming a release window of early 2027. The game is scheduled to launch across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android.
Players take control of an amnesiac, doll-like sailor. Alongside a dedicated crew, the protagonist explores an open world, visits mysterious islands, and searches for lost people, stories, and memories consumed by the sea. Combat shifts depending on the setting, offering turn-based battles on land and naval combat against rival vessels and giant sea monsters during ocean voyages.
Each expedition features roguelike elements. Routes, enemies, bosses, equipment, and buffs change with every run, requiring players to continuously adjust their party composition and battle tactics. Upon returning to the port city of Orbtopia, players can upgrade their ship, build relationships with various characters, and contribute to the settlement’s growth.
Roster expansion will also be possible through weekly voyages. Completing these runs guarantees a rare character or a signature weapon without requiring premium currency.
A closed beta test for Sea of Remnants is scheduled for December 2026. The developers plan to announce specific dates and participating platforms at a later time. Pre-registration is now open on the game’s official website.
