Fans of vintage animation and gritty detective stories will have to wait just a little longer to prowl the streets of Mouseberg. Developer Fumi Games and publisher PlaySide Studios have announced a slight delay for Mouse: P.I. For Hire, pushing the game’s debut back by roughly a month to ensure a more polished experience.
Originally slated for a March 19 arrival, the stylish noir shooter is now scheduled to launch on April 16. In a candid update shared with the community, the development team explained that the extra time is vital for the project’s final polish. “As we approach the final stages of development, we want to ensure we are taking the extra time and care needed to make Mouse: P.I. For Hire an experience to remember,” the team stated, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a high-quality debut.

Since its initial reveal in 2023, Mouse has garnered significant attention for its striking “rubber hose” animation style, reminiscent of 1930s cartoons. Underneath its whimsical aesthetic lies a brutal first-person shooter inspired by classic “boomer shooters” like Doom. Players take on the role of Jack Pepper—voiced by the prolific Troy Baker—a hard-boiled private investigator navigating a city rife with corruption and danger.
When Mouse: P.I. For Hire eventually arrives this April, it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, the rumored “Switch 2,” and PC. Interestingly, its new release date places it just two days after Replaced, another highly anticipated indie title that recently saw its own shift from March to April.
