Sony Highlights PS5 Exclusives as Gamers Demand Return of Physical Discs
Sony released a new “Only On PS5” trailer on its official YouTube channel showcasing a lineup of exclusives, but the comment section quickly filled with players demanding the return of physical game discs.
The promo highlighted titles including Saros, Gran Turismo 7, God of War Laufey, Astro Bot, Ghost of Yotei, and Marvel’s Wolverine. However, viewers remain focused on Sony’s announcement this past summer regarding its shift away from physical PlayStation game media.
The vast majority of responses under the video address the loss of physical editions:
- @carrotisverygood: “Don’t take away our discs.”
- @darthreven1673: “Only discs.”
- @gtitakis: “I WILL ONLY BUY THE DISC VERSION.”
- @NxtReaper parodied Sony’s marketing: “This could be you… If you just comply with our will, be a good little consumer, pay us hundreds of dollars to access our games, and never own anything again. Oh and by the way, you’re gonna love it too.”

A group of PlayStation fans launched a boycott earlier this month in protest. Originally planned as a one-week demonstration, the boycott has since been extended indefinitely. Participants believe that reducing active player counts across PlayStation consoles could force management to reconsider the policy and bring back physical discs.
