Netflix’s Dealies Will Be a Workplace Comedy Series From Joe Bennet

Joe Bennet’s next animated series will look different from his earlier work on Scavengers Reign and Common Side Effects. The upcoming Netflix series Dealies centers on the strange characters who work at a big-box store. An antique shop across the street provides some competition.

Bennet gave a few new details about the show in an interview about Common Side Effects, which has a second season on the way. Dealies is expected to arrive in 2027.

Bennet said his earlier original shorts leaned more toward comedy, and he sees Dealies drawing on that side of his work. In his words, “It’s an episodic comedy series where a bunch of current characters work together in a big box store.”

Steve Hely works with Bennet on Common Side Effects but is not involved in Dealies. He described the new show as character-driven and rooted in the oddities of everyday life.

“It’s very Joe Bennett in that it’s very character-based. Very observed.”

Hely added that the show features offbeat characters who exist in our real world while capturing its weirdness.

What else do we know about Dealies?

Netflix announced Dealies earlier this year as an adult animated series from Bennet and writer Ted Travelstead. The two serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers. The show comes from Green Street Pictures, the studio Bennet co-founded.

The official logline introduces a staff of unusual employees. They include “a savant salesman,” “a gentle gladiator,” and “a summoner of the divine.” Alongside them is the unfortunate person who hired them. The employees are described as masters of commerce who occasionally get around to doing some actual work.

Bennet previously co-created Scavengers Reign, a surreal science fiction series about humans stranded on an alien planet. He also co-created Common Side Effects, an Adult Swim conspiracy comedy about a mushroom with potentially world-changing properties. Both shows reflect his interest in strange worlds and offbeat characters. Dealies appears to bring that sensibility into a more recognizable setting.

Netflix has not announced a specific release date for Dealies. The series is currently expected sometime in 2027.
