Analogue Revives Its Flawless SNES and Sega Genesis Replacements

As original hardware gets older, playing classic games on it becomes harder for many reasons. Analogue works to keep retro gaming alive by building modern consoles that can run games decades old. It did this with the Super Nt in 2017 and the Mega Sg in 2019. If you missed those systems the first time, you now have another chance. Upgraded versions, the Super Nt+ and the Mega Sg+, are on the way.

Revive your SNES and Sega Genesis collection with the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+

Like their predecessors, the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ use FPGA technology to read retro cartridges directly. They output 16-bit games in high definition, up to 1080p, on widescreen displays. The new models add several modern features. These include Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless controller support, USB-C power, and hot-swapping, which lets you change cartridges without turning the console off.

The Super Nt+ works with more than 2,200 SNES and Super Famicom cartridges, and with the original controllers. The Mega Sg+ supports over 2,180 cartridges from the Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Mycard Adapter, and SG1000. It also works with the matching wired controllers and with the Sega CD.

Every system also ships with two cartridge cleaners. Analogue’s store sells extras, so you can get your classic cartridges into the best condition before putting them in the new consoles.

The Super Nt+ and the Mega Sg+ each cost $219.99. Pre-orders open Monday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. ET, and shipping begins this December, so you may receive one before the holidays. Neither console includes a controller. You can use your original controllers, find compatible wireless ones, or buy the 8BitDo controllers from Analogue for $29.99 each.
