Monster Hunter Wilds to Feature More Difficult Endgame Based on Player Feedback
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will feature master ranks and a challenging endgame as Capcom aims to balance an accessible story with rigorous trials for seasoned players.
Expansion director Takuro Hiraoka acknowledged that balancing difficulty is one of the toughest challenges. According to him, base Monster Hunter Wilds was designed to be accessible enough for players to complete the story, but the audience turned out to be much more experienced than the developers expected.
In my view, that is exactly what the difficulty curve of Wilds should be, and I think we achieved that, but players turned out to be so good and experienced. We experienced a certain gap in expectations. Perhaps over the years, players have become better than we assumed.
In Ascendance, the developers want to satisfy both categories of players without catering “only to the most hardcore.” The story is intended to remain accessible, while the most serious challenges will be concentrated in the endgame.
The developers have not yet revealed endgame details. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will be released in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
