Owners of the original Switch game will have access to the new version through an upgrade program.

Mojang Studios officially announced that the Minecraft version for the Nintendo Switch 2 will become available on October 27. Owners of the game for the original Switch will be able to transition to the new edition through a digital upgrade program, though the developers promised to reveal details regarding the cost and upgrade conditions later.

The main advantage of the Switch 2 version will be support for the Vibrant Visuals mode, which will be enabled by default. Thanks to this feature, the game will receive improved lighting, higher-quality shadows, and other graphical enhancements that make the cubic world noticeably more modern. The new visual features will also be supported in compatible content from the Minecraft Marketplace.

In addition, the update will include the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, which is exclusive to Nintendo consoles. It will be adapted to the capabilities of Vibrant Visuals so that Switch 2 owners can experience the familiar Mario world with updated graphics.
